CLEANING VS. DESINFECTION

What is cleaning?

Cleaning is the removal of visible dirt and invisible organic material (e.g. fingerprints, skin scales, etc.). Cleaning also prevents germs from settling and multiplying in the dirt.

Here surfactant cleaners (degreasing cleaners) should be used, as they are best suited for organic soiling.

What is disinfection?

Disinfection is the killing of pathogens to prevent infections in humans.

Disinfectants contain various active ingredients and additives, depending on their mode of action. According to the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), they can be divided into different product types (e.g. PT 1, Human hygiene; PT 2, Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals).

Cleaning & Disinfection

Why clean FIRST, THEN disinfect?

As dirt is in the way, disinfectants cannot reach the germs (e.g. viruses, fungi, bacteria). For the disinfectant to be fully effective, a thorough cleaning process must first be carried out.

In many cases, hygienic cleaning is sufficient, as it removes an adequate amount of germs.

What happens if you only disinfect?

The germs (e.g. viruses, fungi, bacteria) are covered by dirt, so disinfectants cannot reach them. The effect of the disinfectant is considerably diminished due to the contamination.

What does this mean for BIO-CIRCLE products?

Surfaces

FIRST, cleaning with VIRAL CLEANER 100, 200 or 300: In most cases, hygienic cleaning with a surfactant cleaner is sufficient. Degreasing cleaners can dissolve the virus envelope (fat membrane) and thus eliminate the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

THEN disinfection (if necessary): In places with patient traffic or where food is prepared, disinfection of surfaces is necessary for health reasons. Approved disinfectants kill up to 99.999 % of germs (e.g. viruses, fungi, bacteria).

Application: Disinfect the cleaned and dry surface 1-2 times a week. Apply with a cloth or spray over a large area. Observe reaction time. Rinse with water to remove any remaining residue.

Hands

Cleaning with soap and water: The surfactants in the soap ensure hygienic cleanliness and can dissolve and eliminate the virus envelope (fat membrane) and thus the coronavirus.
Disinfection with ANTISEPT-D: If there is no way to wash your hands! In between, on the road, everywhere.

Or: If required, apply to clean and dry hands and rub in.
